Saltonstall Farm

    About the Saltonstall Farm

We have worked on this property over the years, thoughtfully transforming it through a series of projects. Early on, we converted the existing barn into an intimate gathering venue for weddings and community events, followed by a renovation of the connecting apartment between the barn and the main home. Most recently, we completed a significant addition to the primary residence along with a full first-floor renovation.

A generous kitchen addition now floods the heart of the home with natural light, creating a warm and inviting space for everyday living and entertaining. A large custom screen porch, complete with a wood stove, provides a quiet and private three-season retreat overlooking the backyard.

Inside, we reconfigured the existing layout to improve flow and functionality, adding two powder rooms, a formal dining room, butler’s kitchen, mudroom, and media room. We also relocated the basement stairs to create a more open, usable, and cohesive first-floor plan.

    Piscataqua River House

      About the Piscataqua River House

This home was a design-build collaboration with Abrigo Home, shaped by a waterfront site that required careful consideration of building setbacks and height restrictions. These constraints directly informed the home’s massing, proportions, and overall form.

The property features an expansive 1,100-square-foot dock complete with a boathouse, outdoor kitchen, and multiple living areas—fully embracing life on the water. A steel superstructure allows for large spans, expansive glass walls, and oversized windows that connect the interior to the surrounding landscape.

Modern architecture, paired with our custom, in-house cabinetry, defines every space within the home. Despite its scale and extensive glazing, the residence is exceptionally efficient, quiet, and comfortable—proving that high performance and modern design can coexist seamlessly.

      Durham Passive House

        About the Durham Passive House

This home was designed by the talented architecture firm Kaplan Thompson Architects of Portland, Maine, and conceived to perform at the highest level of residential construction—achieving Passive House certification.

The home is constructed as a true envelope house, utilizing a double-stud wall system with two independent exterior walls that create a 12-inch cavity for continuous, high-performance insulation. The roof assembly incorporates energy trusses, fully dense-packed for maximum thermal performance.

Extreme attention was given to airtightness, with meticulous taping at every penetration both inside and out. A vapor-open wall and roof assembly, triple-glazed windows, solar integration, and refined architectural detailing result in a home that is as beautiful as it is efficient.

The owners enjoy net-zero energy consumption, exceptional indoor air quality provided by a Zehnder ERV/HRV ventilation system, and a rooftop solar array that produces enough net-metered energy to eliminate utility bills entirely. The home achieved an outstanding 0.43 ACH, the lowest air exchange rate ever recorded by our certifier—well beyond the Passive House standard of 1.5 ACH.

This residence was recently honored with the 2025 PHIUS Passive Single Family Home of the Year award for the United States, making it one of our proudest and most meaningful projects to date.

        Gerrish Island Remodel

          About the Gerrish Island Remodel

Originally built in the early 2000s, this home sits across the street from the Atlantic Ocean on a large, wooded lot. The project involved a comprehensive deep energy retrofit, including high-performance windows, extensive air sealing, upgraded insulation, targeted additions, and a rooftop solar array.

Inside, the floor plan was thoughtfully opened to improve flow, light, and connection between spaces. Every room was fully remodeled, balancing comfort with durability for coastal living.

Custom, in-house cabinetry completes the transformation, bringing warmth, craftsmanship, and an elevated residential feel to a home that is now significantly more efficient, comfortable, and refined.

          Ladd St. Loft

            About the Ladd St. Loft

Located in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, this historic building once served as storage for the city’s oldest mercantile, Peavey’s Hardware. Long unused and largely raw, the space still housed its original freight lift—used for centuries to move goods between floors—when we began the transformation.

Haven Hill Builders designed an entirely new floor plan, carefully working around massive structural beams adorned with historic graffiti dating back as far as 1823. In a gesture of preservation and respect, the original freight lift was dismantled and re-suspended above the new stairwell, paying homage to the building’s industrial past.

Spanning 3,800 square feet, with an additional 800-square-foot rooftop deck, the resulting home is both expansive and deeply rooted in its history. All original flooring was preserved and refinished, and bricks salvaged from the interior were repurposed to construct the custom pizza oven featured in the kitchen.

The project has been featured in NH Home Magazine and was recognized as a winner of the Portsmouth Kitchen Tour, celebrating its seamless blend of historic preservation, modern living, and thoughtful craftsmanship.

            The Newmarket Glass House

              About the Newmarket Glass House

Set on 45 acres in historic Newmarket, New Hampshire, this newly built home was designed for single-floor living with a generous walk-out basement dedicated to the owner’s bonsai practice. The project was a collaborative design with Amy Dutton Home, guided by a desire for simplicity, connection to nature, and quiet retreat.

A continuous walking deck wraps the home, overlooking the surrounding forest and serving as a daily space for meditation and reflection. Inside, the open floor plan feels light and expansive, with vaulted ceilings and large windows and doors that blur the line between indoors and out.

The centerpiece of the home is the kitchen, anchored by a 12-foot island featuring a waterfall Claro walnut live-edge countertop, thoughtfully paired with soapstone. Custom, in-house cabinetry completes the space, with push-to-open drawers and doors eliminating visible hardware for a clean, seamless aesthetic.
